Sports Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments) in order to prevent or improve sports injuries.
The manipulation of soft tissue prior to and after exercise promotes physical, physiological, neurological and psychological changes that aid performance and recovery.
- Release of muscle tension and pain;
- Reduced discomfort from DOMS;
- Improved posture and flexibility
Sports Massage is also suitable for everyday overuse/repetitive issues eg. sitting at a desk all day, carrying heavy bags, pushing heavy pushchairs.
If you have suffered an injury or have chronic pain or a niggle that just won't go away, I can also treat for this, please book in under injury assessment. Your appointment includes an assessment and special tests to help determine any problems, plus an exercise rehabilitation plan sent to you via an app that includes video demonstrations.
I may also include (with your consent) myofascial dry cupping, dry needling, electrotherapy & ultrasound, infrared and Kinesiology taping at your massage or injury appointment.
I hold a VTCT Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy Diploma and a Level 4 diploma for injury and rehabilitation. I am currently working towards my Level 5 in Sports & Clinical Therapy.
In April 2019 I volunteered to massage at the Virgin London Marathon and worked for the Macmillan Cancer Charity runners.
I'm excited to sponsor and be working as Sports Massage Therapist for the Herts Vipers Women's 1st Team!
